We are currently staying at the broom lodge, the rooms are Fantastic. After staying at several places down here while working, nothing comes close. Staff are extremely friendly, very welcoming, rooms are great, prices great, next to Main Street Largs, 5 minutes walk to the ferry. Great location and we are extremely happy with our time here. Would highly recommended. Thanks for the service all the guys from ideal homes. Sorry that theres only 5 stars.
Beautiful place, but...The heating in my room wasn't working at night, nor in the morning, despite the radiator valve being set to 5. There was no staff members in the property at night - I self checked in. I spent a night freezing - it was 2 degrees outside. Before the owner apologised to me, she and her daughter mentioned on two separate occasions that I had been lucky to find a place to stay in town that night. The owner refused to pay 50% refund.In the morning, I noticed an electric radiator in the room next door, which would have saved my night.The attitude of staff could perhaps be more empathetic when dealing with me this morning.
Fabulous guesthouse. Comfortable rooms, great breakfast and very friendly helpful owner. Will be back!

Not a great stay. My main problem was the showers, right at the other end of the corridor from my "sea view" room. In one the light didn't work, and in the other the temperature control knob was missing and only cold water came out. The working shower's spray head was covered in black mould - I reported this but it was given only a cursory clean (picture is after cleaning). The shower pan was cracked and the toilet seat was askew. I was told there was a "knack" to using the broken shower but not what the knack was. I've seen far better facilities in backpacker hostels half the price of this place. Breakfast was OK, though the eggs were hard. I appreciated the fresh fruit and yogurt, so have given two stars rather than one. The owner was away on holiday.
